[visordown.com] - Honda Africa Twin price revealed

HONDA has just confirmed the price of the CRF1000L Africa Twin at £10,499, £200 cheaper than Suzuki's V-Strom 1000 Desert.

That's for the cheapest version of the Africa Twin, with ABS which can be switched off at the rear wheel. The long-awaited adventure model is also available with Honda's automatic Dual Clutch Transmission, pushing the price to £11,299.

Honda is also opening an 'Adventure Centre' in the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales from March next year. The centre, owned by former multiple motocross world champion Dave Thorpe and managed by off-road racer and instructor Pat Jackson, will offer two-day courses on Honda's 2016 adventure range, which also includes the updated CB500X and NC750X.

Yes, they can go off road, Thorpe insists.

He said in a Honda press release: 'Most of us that own a CB500X or NC750X and even those of us that take delivery of the new Africa Twin will spend the majority of our time on the road. The Honda Adventure Centre offers people the chance to see what their bikes – and they – are really capable of. With the combination of the stunning South Wales setting and the exciting mix of terrain that we’ve got mapped out, we’re sure that people will go away with a new hunger for adventure.'

Courses cost from £499, with a discount of £75 on bookings made at Honda's stand at the Motorcycle Live NEC bike show, open from today until December 6.
