[visordown.com] - Drunk teenager crashes into Foggys house

Was this the expression on Foggy's face?

A DRUNK teenager crashed a stolen car into a house owned by Carl Fogarty as he made his getaway from a burglary.

The Ford C-Max ploughed through railings, a shrub and a tree before flipping onto its roof on the drive of four-time former World Superbike champion Foggy’s £500,000 property.

The 17-year-old driver, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had stolen the £12,000 car during a burglary five miles away.

The crash caused £3,000 worth of damage to the luxury home in Lytham, Lancashire.

The teenager had been drinking prior to the burglary and crash in the early hours of June 7, Blackpool Youth heard.

He admitted burglary, dangerous driving, drink-driving, driving without insurance or a licence, theft of the Ford and illegally interfering with two other cars.

He was sentenced to a year in a youth detention centre and banned from driving for two years.

Judge Jeff Brailsford told him: ‘This was massively serious offending, dangerous driving and drink driving, over a long distance.

‘You were lucky to emerge alive from that crash and lucky not to have killed someone else - only a period of detention will follow.

‘If you were a year older you would have been at Crown Court and would get a three or four year term in jail.’
