I did the math once and if you buy a new trailer, it'd be something like 50 uses before buying paid for itself compared to renting. Plus with Uhaul, you don't have to store it between uses, maintain or license it. Only real downside is picking up and dropping off.

If you buy a trailer you don't have to load/unload the stuff every time, and you don't need to have another storage space for the stuff, you can just leave every thing in the trailer hitch it up and go, when you get home back the trailer into it's space go in the house and take a shower.
Also there are tons of used trailers out there for half the price or less of a new one.
