So as suspected the main spring is broken. Pretty common thing I guess. I will order one and get it as a complete unit. I can purchase just the spring. Or I can get the spring already in a new barrel with the center arbor already assembled and lubed. The unit is eight dollars more than just the spring. Also my fear is the little tabs in the barrel and on the arbor might be compromised. So the parts will be here soon.

I will clean all the parts. I firsti will put the parts in a strong degreaser with ultra sound. Then alcohol to remove the degreaser . After that each piece gets cleaned with clay and a soft wood stick called pith wood.

This process shines each part. And removes anything stuck on the parts. Also I inspect each tooth on every gear and really clean clean clean the jewels.
