It's working fine - I see both pictures, both the attached and the embedded one.

Somewhere from your local browser to the server that the image is coming from, there's an issue. It could be a firewall rule, a dns issue for that server's location/domain, it could be weirdness on a web proxy. It could in some cases be a webserver rule on the server the image is hosted from, preventing embedded linking from another page on a separate domain.

But fundamentally, there's nothing broken (and/or nothing to fix) with the tags on this site. All the IMG tags are doing is pointing to the URL of the underlying image, and the user's browser is the one going out and getting it (it's not coming from the ninjette server, or anything to do with the ninjette server at that point).

I see the same issue from time to time when I post from work, especially in the GIF threads. I find a pic on google, linking to it appears to work, yet a standalone link within the IMG tags does not. When I go home, or view over mobile data, it shows fine.
