I can't speak for all supersports, but my F4i roasted me in the summer, but come fall and winter all that engine heat disappeared and did nothing to keep me warm. The nice wide fairings, however, were marginally better than naked/half faired bikes.

It probably has something to do with the bikes running temp in fall/winter/spring being around 170* but in the warmer months it'd hike right up to 225* (where the fan kicks on) and maybe, if you were lucky, drop down to 190* once you were moving at 70+ mph.
