Its probably the ventilator like you said.
Hoarse, scratchy and quiet voice = Probably OK and will correct itself in a week or so.
Voice that occasionally makes strange noises or occasionally sounds like a foreign language = Very bad and indicates brain damage.
He's a champ. He sounds like a full recovery is in his future.
Any word on the drunk b!tch that did this to him? Is she still in jail (hopefully)?
