One of the first things I tried. Went down to 2nd from 5th while still moving at a reasonable speed, and dumped the clutch. Very minor lockup for just a moment, but the slipper then worked as advertised and broke free enough to keep the engine from revving much at all. So it works.

But - I'm not a fan of the clutch in general. The feel is somewhat vague and soft, so when clutching/declutching very quickly, it seems like there is a slight delay before it's fully engaged and driving in the next gear. The clutch feel is a little less direct than how it feels in the 08-12's. It's not a huge concern, but it's not a step forward, either.
