There are plenty of reasons to buy a pre-gen over a current model. The first thing that comes to mind to me is ease of service. Look at the difference in difficulty of a valve adjustment, or just the difference in difficulty of taking off the fairings for goodness sake. Not to mention, I like having a temp gauge, and I like the looks of the pregen as well.
If you want to see a current-gen bike that has been "street-fightered" and doesn't look so good, go peruse the crash section. Good and bad streetfighters of both generations exist. Without doing it right, both forms just scream "I crashed"
