Typically, going larger will kill low-end and improve top-end.

You've seen those guys at race track whose job is to hold throttle open and keep on blipping it so engine doesn't die while racer suits up. That's what you get for tuning for top-end power.

It's careful balance obtained from lots of dyno-tuning and wideband O2-sensor.
