If I had/ever do drop mine, that is my plan. Leave the upper black piece, anything that attaches to the tank as they left nasty mounts in the tank like the older gen Ninjas. Trim around the turn signal, or cut that off and do a flush mount somewhere, maybe in the mirrors.
I plan to trim what I have left simply because it's not even attached at that bolt under the seat anymore; it broke off completely around the attachment point. My right leg basically holds it down It will just be a temporary fix until I get a good deal on a new fairing.
