I'm also saying that a good employer will honor your perviously planned commitments.
I once had a coworker newly hired go on vacation her second week because it already been planned months prior. It was never counted against her.

One of my friends that works there said i should talk to the lead of my department once i am properly placed they MIGHT allow me to work 10 hour days M-Th and have that friday off as a one time thing but it depends on the boss of that department. WE'll see, this might work out, but if not, i can always have an alternative plan
