Honestly I think at this point it's just you being nervous about the bike. Having it comfortable is important and I was adamant against trying the one-foot-down thing but it's easy once you can do it. The more you change up your bike, the more you'll have to relearn the little changes. Lowering kits already affect handling and clearance.
Stopping was the hardest thing for me and really still is, but if you're gonna practice it, may as well learn the least time consuming and cheapest way. xP
