So no doubt I will get faster by doing trackdays, but that isn't really the goal. Mostly I just enjoy it. Am I an outlier? A track coach told me so, but I think his perspective is skewed, since he only deals with hardcore racers or trackday riders focused on reducing lap times. Why do you go to the track?

Yes, this is a false dichotomy, but go with your gut and choose the one that best fits.
