Welcome, I have a couple of years on you & have been riding my whole life.
I have a ZZR250 which uses the original 250 motor it’s great if a little buzzy. The newer 250 is better still & the 300 is a better option as the extra 50cc does make a big difference in the feel of the motor.

If you were looking for something, less sporty but just as capable, I’ve had he new Versys X300 for a couple of months & 1000miles & it is a hoot. It uses the same 300 motor in a cross between an adventure & trail bike chassis. Even with the full adventure kit fitted it will sit at 80-90mph on the motorway & I’ve seen 100 indicated once. It’s the first bike I’ve ever ridden where I have not complained that the suspension is too soft ! I’m 6’1” and 100kg. It handles beautifully, give one a try.

Have fun, be safe & welcome back to biking
