To answer your original question, I advise conducting informational interviews. Asking this forum is great, but doing so in person, out in "the field" might yield better results. There's a phrase known as "the known candidate", which you can't do ( in my opinion ) over the web.
As you speak with people in the local motorcycle shops, they get to know you. If something isn't available now, they might keep you in mind if something arises down the road. They can also lead to other outlets to consider.
