Problem with low-quality Chinese products isn't with manufacturer, but greedy U.S. importers who specify lowest-price possible for highest profit margins. As you mentioned, they can produce any level quality desired.

About 25-yrs ago, I had custom ECU for Porsches designed in NZ and had it manufactured in China. Bids came in with pricing from $100 to $1000 apiece! You can imagine that represented HUGE range in quality!!! I could've picked low road or high road, choice was mine.

We're saying same thing about China that was said about Japanese in '50-60s. Won't take long for them to come up with high-quality original products. Like first Honda N600, innovative and technologically advanced for its time. Honda hasn't stopped since. There can potentially be 10x as many Chinese Hondas around corner...
