Highsided and the first part of me to hit the ground was the helmet....directly on the chin.

The helmet did its job, like I expected it to. I walked away with a little cut on my chin, a slight concussion and minimal road rash.

All this bull pucky about modular helmets not being sufficient is wrong. Provided that they are from a reputable manufacturer they are perfectly capable of protecting your noggin.
+1 I wore a modular for a little while, and I know a number of folks that do. I see nothing wrong with them for day to day use.
