Yup.

Kickstand switch is not indicating that kickstand is in UP position when it really is.
So bike thinks kickstand is DOWN and when you put it in gear, it turns OFF engine for your protection.

Unless you can see electrons flowing in wires, switches must be tested electronically.
Do you have multimeter and know how to use it to measure resistance (ohms)?
