well, I want to figure this black magic out too! I need to find some CFD lab time to figure out how and why the open end insert works.
I made 2nd insert for my CBR that was even quieter than Yosh one. Which made much more sense because it had closed end at beginning and forced air to flow around sides and through perforations to get into centre section and escape out end.
