I doubt it. I do this all the time by riding in the left 1/3 of the lane and have never had any issues. You're still very much in your own lane and as long as you keep an appropriate distance, they should have no problem seeing you in their side mirror if they're paying attention.
To the OP, glad it's gonna be a lot cheaper now. Not sure if 'up and running' is necessarily rideable or not but hope it is!
