I think it is a [ you ] type tag... You'll get used to it, and then start ignoring it.
The little clips on mine do not go into rubber, there are 3 on each side of the front splash shield and hold plastic to plastic in the front of the side fairings.
Yes, you click them IN and then pry/pull them out. To reinstall, just push the middle tab back out all the way.
