I had varying success in removing the adhesive from the tail sections. One panel came out 99% free, another, 90% - but still has sap, the other - 2% removal, and now it is green!
I tried heat, WD-40, gasoline, and Goo-Gone; in no particular order. I think that I wore off the clear coat on one panel, scrubbing so hard. When the weather warms, I'll revert back to my original plan, and paint the other fairings.
