Undecided on the roll bar. They are pretty close to your head in the event of an accident.
They stop your head from getting squashed if you roll, I saw a mx5 that clipped a gutter and ended up on its roof, the driver survived but was busted up bad with head injuries, Ive also seen one roll at the track, the driver was able to get out and help flip it back on its wheels.

I consider a good roll bar to be a required safety device, you might never use it, but if you do it will most likely save your life.
