Really helped me with a Porsche Turbo I race about 80-hrs/year. Several samples in sequence pointed out trend in metals that showed my rod-bearings were wearing out. I was able to drop oil-pan and replace bearings before my next race. Bearing #2 was on verge of self-destruction and that would've cost me an entire engine!
This also indicated problem with oil I was using; not up to constant high-RPM high-temp tasks. I switched to a group-V synthetic that didn't have as bad viscosity breakdown under high-stress. Also upgraded to bigger oil-cooler and lowered my redline to 6750rpms.
All this from a little bottle of used oil!
