i have raced a 300 for 3 years now. This year I have a 400 also. The 400 is better in every way braking, power and handling. You can race a 300 in the 500cc classes and compete if you are a good rider but at Autobahn and Blackhawk the 400 is good for 2-3 seconds PER LAP that adds up. At Brainerd it was 5 seconds.

There are riders out there that can make that up against slower riders but if you can ride that well you would be able to podium it the lightweight races against SV's and FZ07's on a 400 (or 300 for that matter if you are a Barry or Jankord) Bruce rides 250 chassis but i doubt any of them a 250cc

I would expect the CCS 300cc classes to change next year to include the R3 and that could have a ripple effect on other classes

I would not put much money in a 300cc race bike at this point, if it is for track days do whatever floats your boat after all any track time is good
