Your post is exactly what I was getting at. You jump in that pool and realize how bad you are in and there is no stopping it. Here comes that telephone pole, better figure out how to swim.
Being prepared would solve this, but why be prepared? Go as fast as possible and hope for the best. Skills are overrated.
