Before I de-gear, my cat is extremely scared of me. He's normally kind and affectionate, but he runs away really quick when I'm wearing my gear. Specifically, my helmet. I noticed once when I had my helmet on my bed, he saw it and took off. My bird does the same thing, but that's when I wear any hat in front of him (it's cute. He doesn't recognize me

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Other cats don't seem to mind, and neither does the dog.
