I had an 89 Honda Civic. A weak spot was the cat converter heat shield... the spot welds holding it together would crack and the shield would rattle annoyingly. Solution: Coat hanger wire, tightened tourniquet-style with a stick.
That car was made before the age of cup holders. I also made a really trick one that hung from the door out of coat hanger wire. People at the drive-through loved it.
