So... I'm thinking an intermediate plate between frame & rearsets. The plate would be attached with break-away bolts so it would get ripped away before sufficient force was applied to damage frame... Hmmm... or explosive bolts...

we already have a fix, solid metal plate welded to the frame in that spot.
