From now on I will either be only putting in spools to lift the bike up for maintenance/washing etc then taking them out. Or picking up a rear stand that lifts with paddles from the bottom of the swingarm.

Those spools are not there for any kind of crash resistance, they are so precariously welded on that they wouldn't withstand a crash very well. They're basically just tack welded on.
