Ride up on your sport bike, wander around a little, tell the salesman up front you really aren't in the market, but you want to take one for a ride to see what all the hype is about. I'd say about 99% chance they let you ride one. If not a brand new one, they'll have a bunch of used ones on the lot.
If you roll up on a Ninja 250 they may not be inclined to let you ride a brand new 900lb Street Glide Ultra until they've seen you handle a smaller bike like a Sportster, Soft Tail or Dyna first.
