Posts: A lot.
OK I have been doing some reading....
and found this ... https://www.obdadvisor.com/best-car-...What_do_I_need
which has been educational....
but it sounds like what I want to do....
but it looks like alot of these things are subscription based things that get money from you each year weather you use it or not... that is NOT for me !
but it looks like half of them are that way.... the dipsticks expect you to keep sending them money..... that isn't going to happen !
( subscription base indeed ! how dumb do they think I am ? ) LOL....
....
so Yah ! I think I answered my own question...... and I've opened a can of worms or am heading down the rabbit hole in no uncertain terms !
....

back in the 1950's no car has all these sensors on it.... it was as simple as they could make it..... now days almost every component on the car has it's own sensor that reports to the ECU and it decides how to adjust the components to make it run the best.....
It is a better way in most respects, because it is far more precise !
it has also raised the price of most cars to be higher than a House of the 1950's as well. and it's taken the Mechanics job and put it into the hands of a technician !... ( which is just a educated mechanic in most cases)
....
So Now... the mechanic of Old is reduced to an R&R specialist. because he is not educated in the NEW ways, nore does he have the tools to do it.
....
I am an Old Mechanic and I plan to change that ! this new **** has not got me beat yet ! LOL

Bob......
