I've seen a number of aftermarket flush mounts on various bikes around town and not one, not a single one, was very visible. Could you see them lit? Sure, but they didn't stand out at all and were extremely easy to overlook.
I got some Traf-X LED signals for my bike (they're not flush mounts) and boy are they intense. Nobody's going to miss those suckers burning a hole in their retina.
Ride like you're invisible, but don't actively try to make yourself MORE invisible. Don't make any changes that reduce your visibility. Be honest with yourself, are those flush mounts really as visible as the stockers? Really?
