While it looks cool, a 690 based KTM will never make a good adventure tourer. The motors are too high strung, and on average need a full top end rebuild after about 25K miles. Less if ridden hard. That won't go over well with the ADV crowd.

To make that bike viable for distances, they would have to seriously detune it. A move like that doesn't seem to be KTM's style.

The Africa Twin is a bike more suitable to high miles. I wouldn't mind having one. In fact, I got my eye on craigslist for a used one.
