Have a look in the kitchen cupboard, I'm always finding usefull things in there which I can modify and repurposed, don't let the Minister of War and Finance catch you though.

As far as modifications to make this work... I like what you're thinking. Maybe epoxy on a makeshift fastener that could be passed through the rubber grommet
