Don't forget that if you cancel your coverage completey, that gap in time between when you get coverage again can screw you. I had a month or two gap in coverage when I was younger(sold car and bought new one) and Alstate told me that since it wasn't continuous, they counted me as just starting to drive at the new start date. Needless to say my rates went WAY up for 6 months.
