The only upgrade you really need safety-wise is the back protector. Chest is a nice-to-have item. The nice thing about A* jackets (at least mine, anyway) is that they have pockets in the liner for A* chest protection.

I recently swapped out my track back protector for the newish A* Nucleon KR-R, CE level 2. It's light and well vented. They make basically the same protector as a jacket insert.
