I just traded up from a S40 to a 2007 Ninja 250. The Ninja is superior in every way. The S40 has sorry roadholding, woeful brakes, and anemic engine that runs out of steam far too early, which is ok really as by then the vibration is horrendous. It has a wierd big gap between 2nd and 3rd, so a chain coversion, which it desperately needs as 1st is way too low, would exagerate it. The timing chain wears out early and I had horrid chirping noise from the drive belt ($180 replacement) that I could not cure.
