Nope. It was a study by a German, Dr. Dietmar Otte, of accidents in Germany and the UK in the 90s. The study came out in 2001

Article in the Journal of Trauma that appears to be the original study, for you academics. It's painful to read (see what I did there? Lord, I crack myself up sometimes....)
