I would recommend going back to the 98s and raise the needles with another washer or 2.

These bikes are a bit rich in the main stock and lean in the idle and midrange. removing the snorkel gets the top end about right and raising the needle w/ at least 2 washers compensates for the lean condition in the lower rev range.
