Looks like you only removed the tip of the tail, right? Held a reflector at the bottom? I think the only reason Kawasaki had the fender extended so low was because in some states a rear red reflector is required to be in a certain spot.
Looks good man! Still has a factory look. I don't like complete fender removal. As a matter of fact, I just ordered a factory fender for my 07. I cut the original about 2 days after I got the bike. Did not completely remove it, but I realize how valuable it is in wet weather.
