And if you modify the air intake system, rejetting the carbs is probably necessary.

I tried using the right and left sections of my tail light as turn signals, but was not happy with the visibility, so I wired their lights to come on with the brake and added some amber LED signals. In my state, the tail light sections are too close to the brake section to be legal for turn signals as well.

Yes, if you open the hole in the tail light, you need to glue some clear plastic over it. I tried that, but was not happy with my license plate illumination, so I went with a separate LED for it. I like to keep things relatively legal looking to avoid unexpected stops from the police.
