GMR isn't too bad if you just take it easy. The scenery is epic. It seems to me that as long as you take it easy it isn't a problem, no different than riding anywhere else. There's pieces of fairings and reflectors littering the shoulders but after riding GMR and GRR I feel like it's not a problem if you know your limits and stay a notch below them. I'm not super experienced on the street but I didn't feel uncomfortable, I just cruised, took my time, and had a blast. I went on a Friday and didn't see another bike the entire time. It's definitely a very fun road, lots of tight corners that are a blast even at a slow speed. You don't have to go fast to have fun, just being there is the thrill.
