I had an 09 CBR. I would take the CBR on long rides and to the track and I'd commute and bang around the city on my 250. I sold the CBR and am looking at buying another 600 or 1000.
The thing I miss most about the CBR is the suspension. The power is a given but there is something to be said about wringing the neck of a 250 on public streets and not having to worry about hitting triple digit speeds. Like you pointed out the MPG on a smaller bike is nice.
