used to happen to me all the time.
i give people advice, but they either turn it down blatantly, or gloss it over.
even though i had 3-10x the experience of my "peers" and my certifications were at a much higher level, i have a youthful appearance. although it gets me far in different places, its always a downfall when dealing with older folks.
you'll learn your own tricks with dealing with people, but i just do three things.
a. amaze them, perform at a level that they did not know was possible.
b. Start off your advice as a complement, then offer advice the improves their skill.
c. Dont be a pushover, if they are wrong correct them, DO NOT back Away.
