Just ordered one of these.
Looks like exactly what we need to power the iPhone on board. Haven't seen anything else like this one yet anywhere.
Will report how it works out.
It seems to have plugs for easy removal, a fuse to protect the phone and a power smoothing circuit. Also a little clip to clip the wire to your brake cables or whatever if you mount your iPhone in a
RAM cradle mount like I do. (BTW this combination takes amazing videos while recording your GPS routes! For which you'll drain so much juice you'll want this onboard charger)
