FMF Shorty exhaust fitment problem

Hey Gang,
I am tinkering with an FMF Shorty Silencer Muffler I got it on eBay for cheap. The previous owner said it was an extra for his 2000 Yamaha YZ250.
I am wondering how I can make this thing fit my pipe properly.
My '09 Ninja 250's pipe has an internal diameter of 1&1/4"
The FMF muffler's pipe has an external diameter of 1&1/8"
I want to try this thing out to see it if will make the bike sound meaner/deeper/louder. ... WITHOUT harming the engine or any of the original functioning of the bike.
My wife is like: , ,
I am like: , ,
THIS THING IS LOUD!
( may not keep it because all i really want is a deeper sound without breaking the bank.)

Here are some pictures
