is there a rubber hose or wrap material I could cut and fit around the muffler pipe, so when I inserted it in the pipe from the bike it would fit very snug? I really have no idea how much heat is down there other than it will fry my leg if i touch it after a 10 minute ride =)
I doubt i'll go to any muffler shop to have it welded or fitted with their fabbed parts. I suppose I'll just head out to an auto parts store tomorrow with my dimensions in hand and see what I can come up with.
I'll be sure to post my results.
If I keep the new muffler, I am sure I will paint the entire assembly flat black.
