Either you haven't put enough oil in it, y̶o̶u̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶a̶ ̶l̶e̶a̶k̶, or the sight glass is fogged up. You could also be letting it lean a little to the left and not be noticing it, which would prevent it from showing up.
